Respite Stays

We offer short-term room and board accommodations for individuals who need temporary housing support. Respite stays may be helpful during caregiver transitions, recovery periods, or when families need short-term relief. Each respite stay is evaluated individually to ensure the home is an appropriate fit.

Hospice-Friendly Environment

Family For Life can serve as a supportive residential setting for individuals receiving hospice services through an outside, licensed hospice provider. While hospice care is not provided by Family For Life, we work cooperatively to maintain a calm, respectful home environment that supports comfort, dignity, and continuity during this stage of life.

A Place to Remain for Life

Family For Life is designed to be a permanent home for individuals who are seeking long-term housing in a stable, respectful environment. Many residents choose to remain with us indefinitely, making this their home for the remainder of their lives.

We provide continuity of housing, routine, and community as residents age. When additional support becomes necessary, families may arrange services through outside providers while residents remain in the familiarity and comfort of their home.

What Makes Us Different

Family For Life is a room and board home, not a Residential Care Facility for the Elderly (RCFE). Our model is intentionally different and may be a better fit for individuals who do not require licensed assisted living services.

Unlike an RCFE, Family For Life:

  • Operates as a residential household, not a licensed care facility

  • Focuses on housing, meals, and a supervised living environment, rather than regulated care services

  • Offers greater flexibility in daily routines and personal arrangements

  • Supports long-term residency, allowing individuals to remain in the home as long as it continues to meet their needs

  • Allows families to choose and coordinate outside caregivers or hospice providers, rather than receiving services directly from the home

Our approach is best suited for individuals who value a quieter, less institutional environment and who prefer to arrange personal or medical services independently while living in a stable, community-based home.

Family For Life provides clarity, flexibility, and continuity—without the structure or cost of licensed assisted living.

Your Questions, Answered

Can we customize the level of daily assistance?

Yes. Family For Life provides room and board as the foundation of our home. Residents or their families may arrange additional daily support—such as personal care, medication reminders, or companionship—through independent caregivers or third-party providers. This allows each resident to receive the level of assistance that fits their individual needs while maintaining the flexibility and independence offered by our home.

Is Family For Life a medical or assisted living facility?

No. We are a room and board home, not a licensed assisted living facility or Residential Care Facility for the Elderly (RCFE). We focus on providing a safe, structured, and supportive living environment, while residents arrange any personal or medical services independently or through outside providers.

What happens if my loved one needs care changes over time?

We support long-term residency, so as needs evolve, families can adjust care arrangements with outside providers. Our staff helps ensure that any new services integrate smoothly with the home environment.

How do respite stays work if I need a short-term solution?

Respite stays provide temporary housing for residents needing short-term support, such as during a caregiver transition or recovery. Each stay is arranged individually, with attention to compatibility and comfort within our household.
